a first

My bird book tells me that Bramblings, which visit the UK during winter, are often seen in with a flock of Chaffinches and during severe weather will visit garden feeders. That’s a tick on both counts today then. And a first for me.

Yesterday, the cold easterly airflow showed that despite spring being just around the corner, that corner could still be a little way off yet.

Having said that, there was much birdlife. Comings and goings. A pair of long-tailed tits, one with a beakful of moss.

The sun sank through a haze, and a blackbird sang, reminding us that spring will have its way.
